After School Activities

Speciality Clinics

Clay Academy offers several Speciality Clinics for students to participate in after school.  These clinics are provided by qualified instructors on a six-week basis at a cost of $60 and meet one day a week.  Below is a brief synopsis of the clinics we currently offer:

Dance:  This program focuses on body-awareness, poise, technique, balance and builds self-esteem.  The students will be exposed to a variety of dance genres such as Creative Movement, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Liturgical and Latin.

Suzuki Strings:  The Suzuki approach seeks to develop the whole child to help unfold his/her natural potential.  Suzuki students develop confidence and self-esteem, determination to try difficult things, self-discipline and concentration.  They acquire a lasting enjoyment of music, skill and sensitivity for making music.

Tae Kwon Do:  This fitness program offers a regular, structured exercise program involving non-contact martial arts life lessons in personal safety. It teaches and encourages the five tenants of Taw Kwon Do:  courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit.

Etiquette:  This class will empower children to learn etiquette, manners, confidence, self-esteem, poise and character building skills.  Our goal is to empower the next generation with social etiquette and dining etiquette to prepare them for the future socially and professionally.

Drama:  Students will learn basic acting techniques.  The program will help students develop self-confidence, build self-esteem, and develop confidence in communication and expressing themselves.

Chess:  Students will learn the basics of the chess game.  Chess is widely believed to increase the "mental muscle".  Exposure to chess enhances memory, boots spatial and numerical skills, increases problem solving capabilities, and strengthens logical thinking.

 Athletics

The goal of Clay Academy's Athletic Program is to teach our young athletes the basic fundamentals of each sport and help them develop into well-rounded, competitive athletes.  We strive to provide a developmentally appropriate Middle School sport program to enhance a child's fitness, self-confidence, motor skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.  We do subscribe to the No Pass - No Play philosphy as well as hold our athletes accountable for their behavior.  We believe a successful athlete must be as disciplined in the classroom as they are on the court.  It should be noted that participation in athletic activites is a privilege offered to and earned by students.

Currently, we have basketball and track for boys, and volleyball, basketball and track for girls.  We compete against other Private Christian and Charter Schools in the DFW Metroplex.    In the future, we hope to add a football team as well as a baseball team.  We also plan to conduct summer camps for each sport that will include elementary age athletes.
